Volley Clash tips: how to spike, serve and win rallies

Updated · 2 minute read

In Volley Clash you can only spike in the air: jump, come down onto the ball from above, and it goes down fast. Win rallies by reading where the ball will land, keeping your dash for the moment you need it, and using the extra power on the first touch after a serve.

How hits work

There is no hit button: where the ball meets your body decides where it goes. Off the top of your head, it goes up, like a set. Off your side, it goes across. Coming down onto it from above, it goes down: a spike.

On the ground, every touch sends the ball upward. That's the one rule the game rests on: if you want to spike, you have to be in the air.

Jumping and dashing

Hold jump longer to jump higher. The dash is a short burst sideways that you can use once in each jump. A dash to reach a falling ball is a save; a dash into the ball in the air is a spike.

The serve

The side that lost the point serves. The ball drops above the server after a short countdown, and the first touch after a serve gets extra power. Lose a point, and you get an advantage back.

Reading the ball

Move to where the ball will land, not where it is now. Rallies are won by whoever is already underneath the ball when it comes down.

Unlike real volleyball, the same player can touch the ball several times in a row, which is what makes 1v1 work.

2v2

2v2 is played on a wider court. Teammates pass through each other instead of bumping, so you can't knock your partner off the ball. Split the court left and right, and let the player nearer the net take the spikes.

Questions

How many points to win?
Seven by default. The host can pick 5, 7 or 11, and turn on win-by-two.
Why can't I spike from the ground?
Ground touches always go upward. Jump and come down onto the ball to spike.
Which bot should I play first?
Rookie. Pro and Legend use the dash and read the ball far better.
