How to play Dragon Battle 3D
- 1
Choose a dragon in your roost. Granite, Embercrest, Silverwing and Mossback are free from the start.
- 2
Pick Battle, then a format: Duel (1v1), Wingmates (2v2), Sky clash (free for all) or Outnumbered (1 against 2). Choose one of three islands and press Battle.
- 3
Press Space to rise into the air and W to fly forward. Turn with the mouse, or by dragging on a phone. Shift flies faster and C brings you down to land.
- 4
Fire with the mouse button. Attack 1 is a quick shot, 2 is a breath attack, and 3 is a heavy shot you hold to charge. Lock onto a rival with T.
- 5
Block a hit with your tail guard (F) and roll out of the way with Q and E. The last dragon flying wins; when time runs out, the most health left wins.
Battle, race, explore, or fly the story
Battle or race with up to three friends, fly a story with one wingmate, or explore on your own.
- Duel
- One rival, one sky. A 1v1 against a bot or a friend.
- Wingmates
- 2v2. Fly with an ally, cover each other and bring down the other pair. Two friends can team up against two bots.
- Sky clash
- Four dragons, free for all: every other dragon is a target.
- Outnumbered
- You against two allied rivals. Use the terrain and your tail guard.
- Sunspire Circuit
- Race two to four friends over three laps and sixteen ordered gates, with live positions and finish times. Each rider has one fireball aimed at the middle of the screen: a hit knocks a rival down, and it comes back at its last gate, untouchable for three seconds. Solo is a time trial. Miss a gate and it does not count.
- Free flight and training
- Roam the islands with nothing chasing you, or practise your attacks on the training ground.
- The Last Lightkeepers
- The story, for one rider or two: restore the beacons along the coast and face the Hollow Crown.
The Last Lightkeepers: a dragon story for two
The story opens with an illustrated comic, then sends you along a coast of six regions: Brightwake Harbor, the Verdant Hollows, Cinderwatch Reach, the Glasswater Isles, the Crown of Winter and Nightspire. There are 24 quest stages, named dragons to talk to, five guardian fights with three phases each, and two endings to choose between.
Play it alone or with one friend. When your wingmate goes down, get within 24 metres, press G and stay put for three seconds to bring them back. Beacons you find heal you, save a checkpoint and let you travel back quickly. Press J for the map and journal, and K for story skills.

Twelve dragons to fly
Every dragon has its own element and three attacks of its own. Granite fires stone, Embercrest flame, Silverwing frost and Mossback venom, and those four are free for everyone.
Eight more unlock with gems, the site's reward currency, earned from daily rewards and daily challenges: Abyssal, Verdant, Sunflare, Aurora, Astral, Solaris, Nereid and Arcanis. You can look at each one in 3D before you unlock it. The first four have 720 base HP. Abyssal, Verdant, Sunflare and Aurora are Elite dragons at 100 gems, with 828 base HP and 10% more damage. Astral, Solaris, Nereid and Arcanis are Legendary at 200 gems, with 936 base HP and 20% more damage. Racing flight speed is equal across all twelve. Existing unlocks stay owned.
Three battle islands and four skies
- Skyreach Citadel
- A ruined citadel with broken bridges, towers and gates to fly around and hide behind.
- Ember Crags
- Volcanic islands with vents, basalt outcrops and deep cliffs.
- Frost Crown
- Frozen mountains with ice passages to thread at full speed.
Each map has six islands to land on, take cover behind and fight around. Set the sky before you start: a random sky, a clear day, golden hour or moonlight. The host's choice is the one everybody sees.
Playing with friends
Make a room on PlaywithBuddies and send your friends the link or the room code. Each of you plays on your own phone or computer, up to four riders in one battle, and bots fill any empty seats. The host picks the format, the island, the length and the bots' difficulty, and presses Battle. There is no Ready button: the match starts as soon as everyone's game has loaded.
Friend battles use each dragon's tier stats, with solo upgrades disabled. Race speeds are equal across all twelve dragons. The story takes two riders, and both keep their own checkpoint and rewards.
Embers, XP and upgrades
Solo battles earn Embers and dragon XP. Play for at least 30 seconds and deal some damage to earn them. Spend Embers on four upgrade tracks for each dragon, up to three ranks each as the dragon levels up: vitality, its quick shot, its breath and its heavy attack. These solo upgrades are kept in this browser.
Battles last two, three or five minutes, and the bots come in three strengths: Easy, Balanced and Fierce.
Tips
- Start with a Duel on Easy to learn flying and the three attacks before you take on two rivals.
- Your tail guard blocks one hit, then takes a few seconds to come back. Save it for a charged shot coming your way.
- Fly low between islands and towers: the terrain stops shots, and rivals lose sight of you.
- In the story, stay close to your wingmate. You can only bring them back when you are near them.

- Yes. Battle up to three bots at Easy, Balanced or Fierce, race the Sunspire Circuit, fly freely around the islands, or play the story on your own.
